About 1,400 residents of north Columbia were without power for about an hour Wednesday, according to Columbia Water & Light. Starting Wednesday afternoon, Columbia was experiencing hazardous weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms could last through Friday. Several residents were without power for a bit in central and south Columbia, but the vast majority of outages were in neighborhoods north of Vandiver Drive and south of East Brown School Road, according to Columbia Water and Light. Crews were dispatched to the area around 4:50 p.m., and by about 6 p.m., all customers had their power back, according to the department. At 5:45 p.m., the outage affected 1,395 customers, according to the department.
