Enel Green Power has connected the 85MW Totana photovoltaic installation in Spain to the grid. The €59m plant in Murcia will generate over 150 gigawatt hours of electricity every year. Enel Green Power has built Totana using renewable energy to meet the site’s power needs, as well as implementing initiatives to involve the local population in the project’s construction. “The entry into service of this project represents a milestone for the company, not only because it is a plant built in record time, but due to the sustainable and innovative practices used to build it, that are highly pioneering in Spain,” said Jose Bogas, chief executive of Enel Green Power’s Spanish subsidiary Endesa. Enel building 900MW of renewables capacity in Spain, including 339MW of solar, awarded in the Spanish government's third renewable energy auction, held in July 2017, and 519MW of wind power.
