German renewables developer Juwi Group said on Tuesday that the 18-MW Perl-Potsdamer Platz wind farm in Germany has been connected to the grid. The wind power facility, located in the Saarland state near the German-Luxembourg-French border, was commissioned in June. Its six turbines by Germany’s Enercon are expected to generate around 54 million kWh electricity per year, or enough to meet the demand of over 17,000 three-person households. At the beginning of this year, Juwi sold the plant to Dusseldorf-based AREAM GmbH and said it will remain in charge of the wind farm’s technical operation following completion. Meanwhile, AREAM will take care of the park’s commercial management. According to Juwi’s statement, the citizens of Perl will be able to buy electricity from the wind farm through local energy supplier Grunstromwerk at a tariff of EUR 0.2669 (USD 0.310) per kWh.
