More than 3,000 APS customers were without power in Phoenix on Sunday morning after birds became stuck in equipment, officials said. An outage in the areas between Bell and Thunderbird roads and 19th and Central avenues left more than 1,300 customers without power for nearly an hour on Sunday morning, according to APS spokesman Jim McDonald. Around the same time, approximately 2,200 customers were also without power due to a separate outage in the areas between Greenway and Boca Raton roads and 7th Avenue and 12th Street, McDonald said. More than 3,000 APS customers were without power on Sunday morning. The power was restored to both areas shortly before 8:30 a.m. While the outages were separate, they were each caused by birds who got into the equipment, McDonald said. "No, they're not related — different equipment, different birds," he said.
